Shahd oh Shahd
Click on the link above for the information about Shahd printed on the back of the card.
Cost each: $4.30 1 Card with Envelope
Printed on the back of the card:
Shahd is one of the first of at least 20,000 children killed so far in Gaza by US-assisted Israeli strikes, snipers, forced starvation, and freezing. (Another 40,000 injured or maimed.)
This is not a political statement by a greeting card company any more than it would be political if you wince when you read that Shahd Al-Sawaf, 5-years-old when her home was bombed, said, “I’m not just big. I’m the oldest one in the house, like grandpa.”
I made this card, a Jew by birth with grandparents whose wider family, young and old, was slaughtered by nazis a few years before I turned BIG 5. I first saw Shahd’s photo on one of the signs held silently by people in Blue Hill, Maine protesting the slaughter in Gaza. Would those gentle people want Shahd killed in their name? I say no.
It does not matter if brutality is baked into our world, we can’t say “yes but another child also was killed.” Or must we? Is that us?
Painfully yours, MMBProceeds from Shahd’s card will go to helping child victims.
